In communities where a city or private waste hauler picks up trees, the trees should be left at the curb. Private haulers may have a charge for pick up. Trees also can be put in private ponds or reservoirs as a fish cover and in a natural area on private property as a wildlife cover.
Before disposing of trees, owners are reminded to remove stands, hooks, plastic bags and non-biodegradable ornaments.
