Pair wins water rocket competition

WAYNESVILLE — The results of the eighth grade science class’s 12th annual water rocket competition in October have been announced.

The competition involved making a water rocket from a 2-liter plastic bottle and then launching them in the community park. The goal was to keep the rocket aloft as long as possible.

The class average this year was 4.65 seconds but several students really excelled and were able to keep their rockets in the air much longer.

The overall winners and new school record-holders were Micah Crossgrove and Patrick Taylor with a time of 46.46 seconds.

• Henry Agee/Harrison Franklin – 16.97 seconds.
