Citizen of the Years honors those whose commitment to community service covers a longer span of time.
Contributions to the community that are taken into consideration for these awards are to be beyond those duties of regular employment of the individual or individuals.
As the annual Citizen of the Year program begins accepting nominations, here, we look back at those people, previous recipients of the Citizens of the Year and Citizens of the Years as a way of starting the discussion of who to honor for 2013.
By no means does this list encompass all people who give to Oxford, but it is a reminder of the people who have been honored in the past years of the program.
Since it also is time to consider names to represent us for 2013, this list may inspire some thoughts of people to nominate.
