WATCH: Pursuit and take down arrest of driver who fled from Piqua police

UPDATE @ 6:52 p.m. (Jan. 4, 2019): Bond was set at $115,000 for a man who fled from Piqua police Wednesday, according to Miami Valley jail records.

Dustin R. Jones was arraigned Thursday and charged with failure to comply, OVI, three counts of assault, two counts of aggravated menacing, two counts of aggravated trespassing and theft, jail records show.

Jones reportedly told Magistrate Gary Zuhl he was “having a bad day yesterday” in an attempt to reduce his bond.

Friday afternoon, police released dash cam video of the pursuit and arrest. That video accompanies this updated report.

INITIAL REPORT (Jan. 2, 2019)

Piqua police arrested a man following a brief pursuit Wednesday morning.

The chase ended about 8:50 a.m. in the area of Washington and Farrington roads.

Police arrested Dustin Ryan Jones, 33, pending the filing of an OVI charge, according to jail records.  Other charges are possible, according to the city’s police chief.

Jones was reportedly involved in a disturbance in Covington on Wednesday morning where police overheard him say he was going to Piqua to get a gun.

When police approached Jones, he drove away.

Speeds during the pursuit were reportedly around 90 mph, investigators said. After a few miles, Jones pulled over and was arrested.

Police recovered alcohol from the vehicle, they said.
