Pizza delivery driver robbery in Englewood third in area since mid-September

Police are investigating the reported armed robbery of a pizza delivery driver in Englewood on Thursday night, the third robbery of a delivery driver in the Englewood-Clayton area since the week of Sept. 20.

The driver for Domino's told police the suspect apparently approached him from behind about 10:30 p.m. and got into the back seat, according to Englewood and Clayton police/fire scanner communications.

The delivery person was made to drive to Seville Drive and Taywood Road, where the suspect got out. The driver returned to Domino's.

The incident report filed Friday indicates cash, a cell phone, a 40-piece BBQ wing order and 20-ounce Sprite were stolen in the robbery.

According to Englewood police, the suspect was described as 5 foot 9 and was wearing a red bandanna covering his face, a black hoodie and a book bag. He also displayed a black handgun, according to police.

On Sept. 27, a pizza delivery driver in Englewood was robbed and held against his will, police Sgt. Eric Totel said.

The driver, believed to work for Pizza Hut, told police the robber got into the vehicle in the 700 block of West Wenger Avenue and demanded to be taken to an ATM to withdraw cash, Totel said.

The driver said the robber jumped out of the vehicle, Totel said. The driver, who was not injured, drove to a fire house nearby and called police.

Totel said police received the call about 10:41 p.m.

There is a Pizza Hut on South Main Street in Englewood, less than 2 miles from where the driver said he was robbed.

No description of the suspect, believed to have been armed, was available, the sergeant said.

The week of Sept. 20, according to Clayton police/fire radio communications, a pizza delivery driver was robbed in Clayton on or in the vicinity of Lavon Court, near Northview Park.
