Planes continue moving into museum hangar

The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force moved more research and development aircraft Wednesday into a new $40.8 million expansion set to open to the public next June. The Northrop YF-23, nicknamed the Black Widow II, got a bath on its way to the hangar.

The prototype stealth fighter was one of two that competed to become a frontline Air Force fighter. The Air Force chose the F-22 Raptor. The YF-23 arrived at the museum in 2000.

Members of the public can watch the research planes being moved into the new hangar through the fall. Log onto the museum website at www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/ to find out days and times.
