Police were notified of a video posted to social media where a student was holding the gun and told others not to come to school Monday, Celina Police Chief Tom Wale said in a media release.

“The investigation revealed the gun was an airsoft BB gun which did look real,” Wale said.
Disciplinary actions are expected to be taken by the school and the case has been sent to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office where charges of inducing panic are expected to be filed, Wale said.
“The Celina Police Department takes this and all such incidents which present a threat or potential threat to our students seriously. These types in incidents are never a joke and will never be treated as such,” Wale said.
The school district was contacted and informed that at the conclusion of the investigation, there was no threat to the school, Celina City Schools Superintendent Ken Schmiesing said.
Parents were made aware of the incident via a text message this morning. Classes will be in session as normal at all Celina City schools.
