Prescription drug drop-off box

The Miami County Sheriff’s Office now has a prescription drug drop-off box located in the lobby at 201 W. Main St.

The box was received from the National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators (NADDI), a non-profit organization that facilitates cooperation between law enforcement, healthcare professionals, state regulatory agencies and pharmaceutical manufacturers in the prevention and investigation of prescription drug diversion. The box was received free through a grant.

The box allows anyone to drop off unused prescription during normal business hours. There is no paperwork to complete. Those interested in dropping off the old or unused prescription should simply drop them in the box. The pills are destroyed.

Any items dropped off should be in pill or patch form. No liquids or needles will be accepted. NANCY BOWMAN, CONTRIBUTING WRITER
