Python for sale OK under state's exotic animal ban

A Craigslist ad for an eight- to 10-foot tiger reticulated python raised concerns among News Center 7 viewers, but the seller is within his rights under Ohio's exotic animal law.

The seller is asking $200 OBO and tells WHIO's Layron Livingston the snake was getting too big and he hopes to find a good home for it.

The snake, named "Sky," is not venomous and is under 12 feet, both of which are allowed under the state's new exotic animal law that went into effect this year.

After Sky grows to 12 feet or more, one of the requirments under Ohio law is that the owner has extra insurance.
