Lockdowns lifted, investigation ongoing after threat phoned into Shawnee HS

UPDATE: 4:16 P.M:

Shawnee High School received a threatening phone call Wednesday afternoon, causing the high school to be placed on lockdown immediately.

Multiple deputies responded to the school but did not locate anything abnormal.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office Investigations and Education Support Divisions are actively looking into this threat and they report that they do have a potential lead on its source.

Classes were dismissed at normal times today.

Several deputies remained on scene throughout the afternoon and assisted staff with the dismissal of students.

Lockdowns at schools in the Clark-Shawnee Local School District following an investigation into a threat phoned into the high school.

The district cancelled all evening activities tonight after deputies started an investigation into the threat called into the high school around 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Students of the high school and middle school who ride buses have been dismissed for the day and parents who pick up their students can go to the school to do so, Superintendent Brian Kuhn said in a statement on the district’s website.

Students who drive to the school will be dismissed after parent pick-ups are complete, Kuhn said.

Elementary schools will dismiss at their normal time today, with buses operating on normal schedule.

Lockdowns continue at Shawnee High School and Middle School while deputies continue to investigate a threat called into the building, according to school district officials.

The call was phoned into the high school around 1 p.m., according to reports.

District officials said a One Call will be sent to parents when the lockdowns are lifted.

Clark-Shawnee Local Schools officials confirm Shawnee High School and Middle School are on lockdown while deputies investigate a threat phoned into the high school.

“Law enforcement officials are on-site at all Clark-Shawnee School Buildings to investigate a threatening phone call made to Shawnee High School/Middle School,” Superintendent Brian Kuhn said in a statement posted to the district’s website.

Officials added Possum, Reid and Rockway schools are not allowing anyone in or out of the schools while deputies investigate.

“Please do not come to any of the schools at this current time,” Kuhn said in the statement. “The safety of our students and staff is our top priority and we are working diligently to ensure every student and staff member is safe.”

We’re working to learn more about an investigation reported at Shawnee High School in Clark County Wednesday afternoon.

Reports indicate the school received a threat via phone call before 1 p.m. Multiple deputies have reportedly responded to the school to investigate, according to emergency scanner traffic.

There are reports of schools on lockdown, however Clark-Shawnee Local Schools officials would not confirm if any lockdowns were ordered.
