Richmond man busted growing $500,000 worth of pot

RICHMOND, Indiana -- Richmond Police discovered a marijuana growing operation reportedly worth more than half a million dollars.

Police responded to a call at 11:30 p.m. and took Terrell Osborn into custody just before midnight after discovering nearly 600 marijuana plants growing inside the residence at 240 N. 22nd St.

Police got a call about gunshots and went to the home of the 47-year-old and while investigating, cops got suspicious and ended up inside his house.  They found 580 marijuana plants in various stages of growth and elaborate growing equipment, police said. Officers also said they found a handgun.

Osborn was arrested on a preliminary charge of possession of marijuana (Class C felony).  A Class C felony conviction carries two to eight years and a $10,000 fine.

Police say the plants were being grown using a sophisticated indoor growing procedure and could bring in as much as $300,000 to $600,000.

Osborn remained in the Wayne County Jail on $15,000 surety bond.
