Rolling morgue to join emergency vehicle fleet

Montgomery County’s is adding a $79,161 deployable, portable morgue to its emergency response fleet.

The vehicle will be used by the county coroner’s office and Miami Valley Regional Crime Lab for natural disasters, a mass outbreak of the flu or other illnesses, chemical spill, airplane crash or other mass causality event.

Federal Homeland Security grants will pay for the vehicle, purchased from New Jersey-based Aramsco, Inc. Delivery is expected in 60 days.

The coroner’s office provides autopsies for about 21 counties.
