The fencing is to protect the property and the busses from vandalism in the event of a labor strike, according to an RTA official.
Workers represented by the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1385 have approved a work stoppage to happen Jan. 9 if an agreement on a new contract isn’t reached with RTA’s management.
In addition to the fencing, the official said RTA is hiring extra security to work at the Longworth Street property.
This newsroom has requested the company’s full plan in the event of a labor strike.
