The blaze started when a man was salvaging the big wooden beams in the barn, cutting them out with a chainsaw, a fire official said.
The chainsaw created sparks that ignited dry grass, according to the fire official. The wind helped the flames spread quickly to the back of the barn.
Nothing was inside the barn, which was a total loss.
Hustead and Pitchin fire departments responded to the scene.
