Search is over for Aaron Tubbs in Piqua shooting

The search is over for Aaron Tubbs of Indiana wanted in connection with a shooting earlier this month in Piqua.

Tubbs was tracked down by the U.S. Marshal Service and the Fort Wayne, Ind., Gang Unit Thursday night on warrants out of  Miami County, Ohio, filed by Piqua police.

Tubbs is charged with attempted aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, trafficking in drugs and having a weapon while under a disability.

Piqua police noted that Tubbs was on federal parole.

The shooting happened on Forest Ave. in Piqua along side Fountain Park the evening of  Monday, Dec. 5, 2011 at 6:30 p.m.

The victim, Michael Butts, 22, of Piqua, was shot four times to include a gunshot wound to his neck. He is currently recovering  from his injuries.

The motive for the shooting "was drug related," said Piqua Deputy Chief Marty Grove.

While he is being held in Fort Wayne, it is unknown if  Tubbs will fight extradition back to Ohio to face the charges, or wave extradition and agree to be retuned to Ohio from Indiana by Piqua police. If  he fights extradition it could be weeks before he is back in Ohio.
