DP&L transformer move: Several roads closed in Fairborn

Dayton Power & Light is moving a transformer from a railcar to a substation, erquiring crews to block several roads Wednesday morning through Fairborn.

The move was scheduled to begin around 8:30 a.m. and is expected to take about four hours because the trailer can only travel 5 mph, Fairborn spokeswoman Meghan Howard said.

“We advise finding an alternative path if you can from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.,” Howard said.

The city said the trailer will start on Xenia Drive, turn left onto Dayton Drive, left onto Central Avenue to Kauffman Avenue and finally left onto Colonel Glenn Highway. Traffic will be maintained on Dayton Drive, Central Avenue and northbound on Kauffman Avenue, Howard said.
