Sinclair invests $250K in high school graduates

Sinclair Community College hopes to help at least 550 recent high school graduates attend the school for free or at a lower cost through its new Sinclair Scholars program.

The college will invest $250,000 in the program over the next two years.

“The goal is to assist gifted, low-income 2015 Ohio high school graduates by reducing their overall cost of attending college,” said Dr. Anthony Cruz, Sinclair’s vice president for enrollment management and student affairs. “This program continues Sinclair’s strong track record of accessible, high quality, and affordable higher education.”

Interested students must complete the enrollment and FAFSA financial aid processes and select classes before August 10, 2015.

Those students who are eligible for income-based Pell grants will have the portion of tuition and fees that is not covered by the Pell Grant award or other scholarships paid by the Sinclair Scholars Program.

Students must also meet the following eligibility requirements:

• 2015 Ohio high school graduate

• Must be registered for a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester (fall and spring)

• Test college level in math and English through the Accuplacer placement test, ACT, SAT and/or Compass math
