SkyStar Wheel now a permanent part of the Cincinnati skyline

The SkyStar Observation Wheel has found a permanent home in Cincinnati, according to tweets on both the SkyStar and The Banks Twitter accounts Tuesday morning.

“We are staying,” is the message posted on the SkyStar account.

The Banks followed with a tweet, “IT'S OFFICIAL! @skystarwheel has found a home in #Cincinnati. Celebrate with a ride and enjoy the best views in the #QueenCity.”

The developers of The Banks brought the SkyStar to the Queen City last August to commemorate the riverfront project's 10th anniversary. At the time, those developers said the wheel would move on to another city on Dec. 3.

Since then, the visit from the portable wheel has been extended at least twice and the wheel keeps on turning.

SkyStar sits on an empty parcel of land owned by Hamilton County. The news comes months after Newport City Commissioners cleared the way for developers to bring the Newport Skywheel to the riverfront in Kentucky.

A ticket for the SkyStar is currently $12.50 per person. The attraction is open daily.
