Man killed in Springfield crash ID’d; passenger in fair condition

UPDATE @2:05 p.m.

The identity of a man killed in a crash Sunday has been released.

Saalim Aamir Muhammad, 23, was killed in the crash, according to officials.

India Rogan, 24, was taken by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital, where she is listed in fair condition.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

UPDATE @ 5:51 a.m.:

Sgt. Michael Curtis of Springfield Police Division said the Nissan Altima left the roadway, struck a brick barrier around a pole, and crashed into a garage in the rear of the house in the 2500 block of Sunset Avenue.

The driver, a man in his mid-20s, died at the scene.

The passenger, a woman in her mid-20s, was taken as a precautionary measure by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. Curtis said that she did not appear to have serious injuries.

Police are not releasing identification at this time, and it is unclear whether speed or alcohol were involved. The airbags did not deploy in the crash.

UPDATE @ 2:45 a.m.:

First responders report that one is dead in the Sunset Avenue crash.

The crash site is behind a residence, and police are awaiting the coroner.

CareFlight has been dispatched to the scene.

We are hearing reports of a serious injury crash in Springfield in the area of Sunset Avenue.

Police confirmed that they are sending several vehicles to the scene. Initial reports say that a vehicle may have struck a tree.
