Springfield Symphony Orchestra to perform at local church

The Springfield Symphony Orchestra will present the Springfield Youth Orchestras and Children’s Chorus in concert on at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, at Southgate Baptist Church, 2111 S. Center Blvd. in Springfield.

The annual concert will feature the Springfield Youth Symphony under the direction conductor Carlos Elias, the Springfield Youth Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Lori Wright, and the Springfield Youth String Ensemble under the direction of Janet Fu. The concert will also feature the Springfield Children’s Chorus, now in its fifth season, under the direction of Jennifer Wightman. The concert is free and open to the public.

The Springfield Youth Orchestras and Chorus feature young musicians from schools and home schools from a ten county area. The Springfield Youth Symphony is one of the few opportunities in Clark County for students to perform in a full orchestra setting.
