Bill Teets, spokesman for the Ohio Department of Administrative Services, said the cause was an equipment failure that brought down its internet and phone systems.

The outage impacted information that the public may try to access, such as looking up phone numbers or accessing data. It hit multiple state departments, including health, bureau of motor vehicles, prisons, the General Assembly and others.
