SUV hits My Favorite Muffin; 2 patrons hurt

UPDATE @ 7:30 p.m.: Two My Favorite Muffin customers were struck by an SUV that smashed through a storefront Thursday evening at the Cross Pointe Shopping Center.

A woman driving a BMW sport-utility vehicle struck the business around 6 p.m. She and her passenger, a baby, were not injured.

"Two people sitting inside were taken to the hospital," said Centerville police Sgt. Bill Osmanski. "They're still being evaluated on injuries," however, he said none appeared to be life-threatening.

Witnesses said it appears the driver mistakenly hit the gas pedal instead of the brake.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, Osmanski said.
