The innovative all-day program, an outgrowth of the popular TED conference series, brings together a variety of speakers on a wide range of topics. Those selected have a limited amount of time to share their expertise, a special interest or a personal life experience. Topics range from technology and the arts to the environment, health care, social services, education, parenting and more.
Last year’s event sold out in two weeks.
The local, self-organized events are branded TEDx and follow guidelines from TED, the national non-profit organization.
According to Dayton co-chair Stephanie Gottschlich, approximately 20 speakers have been selected by the committee and will be announced at a later date. In addition to the main program, new Hype Events will be held to introduce the community to TEDxDayton and provide networking opportunities.
Tickets, which include lunch, are priced at $50 for adults and $100 for patrons. A limited number of student tickets are available for $18. Those interested in attending must fill out a brief application.
