The Foodbank will hold a mass distribution Friday at Eaton High School.

Anyone is welcome to come through the distribution, said Chief Development Officer for The Foodbank Lee Lauren Truesdale.

The Foodbank tries to have food distributions in Preble County because there are fewer options for those in need there, she said.

The drive-thru food distribution, located at 600 Hillcrest Drive, will be from noon to 2 p.m.

The Foodbank asks that people clear out their trunks or back seats so that staff and volunteers can place food in cars with minimal person-to person contact.

Truesdale said The Foodbank plans to serve about 1,000 people on Friday. The last mass distribution that The Foodbank held in Preble County saw over 700 people, Truesdale said.

Local police and Ohio National Guard members will direct traffic.

The mass distribution on Friday will be sponsored by CareSource. The Foodbank staff will get help from volunteers from Henny Penny, Truesdale said.

During a mass food distribution at the Nutter Center in April, the Foodbank served 1,400 households, making it the largest food distribution in its history.

The Foodbank served 2,110 people last week at a Greene County mass distribution, or 667 households. More than 500 of those 667 households were new to the food assistance system, Truesdale said.
