Tipp City police cruiser smashed into by suspected intoxicated driver

A Tipp City police cruiser was hit by a suspected drunk driver Sunday night, while an officer was assisting a state trooper with a crash on I-75.

Tipp City police said a suspected intoxicated driver hit the back of the officer’s cruiser, causing the cruiser to spin and narrowly missed hitting the Tipp City officer and the state trooper around 11:30 p.m.

Bruce A. Rogers, 50, of Tipp City, was arrested for the crash and he’s charged with OVI and failure to control, according to court records.

Rogers is out of jail on an own-recognizance bond, records show.

Someone from the initial crash was in the back of the Tipp City cruiser and was uninjured in the crash.
