Trotwood Best Buy prepares to close

Dayton’s Best Buy store at 5031 Salem Avenue is one of two Ohio stores slated to close. The other is in Cleveland.

The Dayton store will reopen  Sunday, and will remain open until May 12th. The company says it will offer select merchandise at up to 20% off while supplies last.

Best Buy announced March 29 that it will close 50 stores around the United States. The company plans to find current employees other positions within Best Buy.  If they decide not to work at a different location, severance packages will be available.

Best Buy CEO Brian Dunn resigned recently after the company launched an internal investigation into his personal conduct.

Industry observers have said that Best Buy suffered in the recession.  The company has been under fire for failure to quickly respond to competition and the country’s changing shopping habits.
