URS Rubber Duck Regatta: 20K ducks race; winners announced

It took 30 minutes for the 20,000 yellow rubber ducks to finish the race in the 14th annual URS Rubber Duck Regatta in the Great Miami River in Dayton.

The rubber ducks were dropped at 4:30 p.m. from the Riverside Drive Bridge at RiverScape MetroPark during the Hispanic Heritage Festival. The event is presented by Synchrony Financial.

Proceeds from the fundraiser benefit local programs for children and adults with disabilities.

About 20,000 yellow rubber ducks were dropped early this evening into the Great Miami River during the 14th annual URS Rubber Duck Regatta.

The first eight ducks to reach the finish line will earn their sponsors prizes, including gift cards, an Ipad Air 2 and food. The grand prize is a seven-bedroom houseboat vacation from Norris Lake Houseboat Rentals.

Proceeds from the event benefit United Rehabilitation, which has helped children and adults with disabilities for the last six decades.

United Rehabilitation Services today is hosting its 14th annual URS Rubber Duck Regatta.

At the regatta, around 20,000 yellow rubber ducks will be dropped into the Great Miami River from the Riverside Drive Bridge in downtown Dayton.

The regatta takes place during the Hispanic Heritage Festival at RiverScape MetroPark at 237 E. Monument Ave.

The cost of adopting a rubber duck is $5, and proceeds benefit programs and therapy for local kids and adults with disabilities. The grand prize is a seven-bedroom houseboat vacation, with cash and gift card prizes for the remaining seven top-finishing ducks.
