VANDALIA — Cassel Hills Golf Course manager John Marchi is retiring from his position as general manager, and the city is seeking new management.

In past years, the city contracted for the management of Cassel Hills Golf Course, and the manager of the course hired staff. With the retirement of Marchi, the city is looking for a new manager.

The city is actively working with the PGA to find one. Most course managers are certified PGA professionals.

The PGA has divided the country into districts, and Cassel Hills Golf Course sits in the Southern Ohio District. The PGA will advertise the position and give city officials names of the qualified applicants. It will then be up to the city to hire the new manager.

The new manager will be named director of golf operations instead of general manager of the golf course. The biggest difference is that the position will be an employee of the city, instead of a contracted individual, and will be supervised by the director of parks and recreation. This will make all employees of the golf course city employees.
