Volunteer effort makes Das Park more fun

PIQUA — A ribbon cutting for the new playground equipment installed Oct. 24 at Das Park (also known as Ann Mira Memorial Park), a 2-acre park at the corner of Park Avenue and Broadway, was held Nov. 2.

The equipment, which cost about $23,000, was paid for through city funds, but the North Parks Neighborhood Association volunteered to install the equipment, which took about four hours to install, said William Lutz, development program manager for Piqua.

The equipment consists of an eight-foot high play structure about 20-foot-long by 10-foot wide, and a three bay swing set, Lutz said.

The city received donations from Michaelo’s Pizza, True Value Hardware in Troy, Piqua Concrete, A.M. Leonard, Inc., and Palmer Bolt and Supply to help with the project, Lutz said.
