Around the official start of summer, owners are hoping to make history with a team attempting to set the new Guinness World Record for the longest distance traveled on a wakeboard within 24 hours.
The day-long attempt is anticipated to begin at noon June 25 and end at noon on June 26. The Wake Nation team is asking the public for pledges as members make the world-record attempt.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to MedLend, a non-profit organization that provides medical missions to impoverished countries around the world.
The public is invited to watch and is invited to ride alongside the wakeboarders making the record attempt. There will also be photo and autograph sessions and wakeboarding clinics. Additional details will be released closer to the record-setting event.
Wake Nation, 201 Joe Nuxhall Way, will operate daily through October. It offers cable wakeboarding, water skiing, kneeboarding, and wakeskating. Opening hours vary, but the facility closes at 8 p.m.
