Low-income households facing disconnection of primary or secondary heating sources could qualify for winter energy assistance.
Residents who already have had service disconnected or have less than a 10-day supply of bulk fuel can apply to the Warren County Community Services’ HEAP office.
The E-HEAP Winter Crisis Program, a federally funded program administered by WCCS, will continue accepting applications through March 31. Households with incomes at or below 175 percent of the 2015 federal poverty guidelines can apply for financial assistance.

Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Choices will hold a dedication ceremony for its newest small house neighborhood at 4150 Bach Buxton Road in Union Twp. The ceremony is planned for Tuesday, Dec. 15, starting with refreshments at 9:15 a.m., the ceremony at 10 a.m., and tours the rest of the day.

High school students eligible for scholarship
High school students who live in Warren County are eligible to apply for a “You Can Count On Me” scholarship. Greg McAfee, owner of McAfee Heating and Air Conditioning, started the scholarship program, which is intended to recognize students not just for good grades, but also for their contributions and commitment to family and community.
The scholarship program will award $2,500 to 10 high school seniors in the Miami Valley set to graduate in the 2016 academic year. Funds can be used for two or four-year colleges, trade or technical schools, or programs resulting in the award of a professional licensure issued by the state.
Applicants must submit three letters of recommendation and have a grade point average of 2.5 or greater. Additional consideration will be given to applicants with significant financial need.
