Warren County Sheriff’s Office wins truck from Reds ballpark

CINCINNATI — Since none of the Cincinnati Reds were able to hit the Toyota sign this season at Great American Ball Park for a fan to win a new Toyota Tundra truck, the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Toyota Dealers will be presenting the truck at 10 a.m. Friday to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.

The area dealers decided to donate the truck. The Warren County Sheriff’s Office was one of eight law enforcement agencies selected for the special spin of the wheel by Reds Manager Dusty Baker at the Sept. 16 game.

Sheriff Larry Sims said he’s honored.

“It will be very useful for us and it will save taxpayer dollars,” Sims said. “We’re very appreciative.”

Sims said how the truck will be used will determine whether it stays a shiny red or is repainted black with gold markings. He said the department is still deciding how to use the truck, but said it possibly may go to the Deerfield Twp. post because that is where Kings Toyota is located and the supervisor’s vehicle there is due for replacement.

The 2011 Tundra has been at the ballpark since Opening Day, waiting for a player to hit the “Hit It Here” sign, located under the PNC Power Stacks in right field. One lucky fan was picked each game as the possible winner.

Making the presentation on Friday will be George Joseph, president of the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky Toyota Dealers Advertising Association; Bob Reichert, owner of Kings Toyota; and Andrew Gilleland, general manager, Toyota Motor Sales, Cincinnati Region; Bill Reinberger, Reds vice president of corporate sales; and Gapper, the Reds’ mascot.
