On Thursday, Springboro City Council is scheduled to consider approving a five-year contract with Kent Depoorter to serve as the magistrate of the city’s mayor’s court. Depoorter would be paid $25,000 a year for the first two years of the contract and then renegotiated. Also the council is to consider hiring Mark Webb as the city’s prosecutor for two years. Webb would be paid $32,000 a year. Webb replacing Tim Tepe, Depoorter Jeff Kirby. Kirby and Tepe were elected to seats on the Warren County Common Pleas Court. In addition, the council is to review the proposed 2017 city budget. The council is also scheduled to consider a record plan for the Waterside at Setttlers Walk for two buildings containing 20 condominiums on 1.5 acres at the north end of Waterside Dr. and for a Popeyes Louisiana Chicken retaurant at 829 W. Central Ave. The council meets in work session at 5 p.m. for the budget presentation and in formal session at 7 p.m. The council meets at 320 W. Central Ave. in Springboro. Resident appointed to mental health board
The Board of Directors for Mental Health Recovery Services of Warren & Clinton Counties (MHRS) has two new members. Tina Fischer of Blanchester in Clinton County and Gary Brose of Maineville in Warren County were officially sworn in as the board’s newest members at its November meeting.
Fischer, a resident of Blanchester, is a substitute teacher with the Southern Hills Career and Technical Center. She has also been on the Village of Blanchester Parks and Recreation Board for 17 years. She is active with the American Legion Auxiliary United 179 in Blanchester, and has been a member of several community organizations.
Brose works as a chaplain for Crossroads Hospice. He has also served churches in Springdale, Murdoch, Milford, and Williamsburg, Ohio. He taught 4th grade in the Lakota school district. County commissioners meet this morning
The Warren County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to meet at 9 a.m. with Chris Brausch, the county’s sanitary engineer and at 9:45 a.m. with Victoria Van Harlingen of the Warren County Historical Society. At 10 a.m. the board is to open a public hearing on giving up the public right of way on a portion of Oak Drive in Deerfield Township and at 10:30 a.m. open a public hearing on giving up the right of way on Maple Avenue in Deerfield Township.
