Weather sirens now in German Twp.

Township gets sirens for the first time; they can be heard in Jackson and Madison townships.

GERMAN TWP., Montgomery County — Three new weather alert sirens have been installed in German Twp. as part of a agreement with the Township Board of Trustees and the Montgomery County Emergency Management Authority.

The sirens were purchased as part of a 50-50 grant involving German Twp. and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The sirens are located at the German Twp. building on Ohio 725 W., Valley View High School and Germantown Christian School.

Weather sirens are activated either by the National Weather Service or a report from a credible source. Sirens mean people in affected area should immediately take cover.

This is the first time there have been weather alert sirens in the township.

Portions of the village of Germantown, Jackson Twp. and Madison Twp. can hear the sirens.

The sirens will be tested at noon the first Monday of each month by the Regional Dispatch Center.
