Sheriff’s deputies with the Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team are still working to learn the identity of others critically injured and what happened at about 3:30 p.m. in the 6800 block of Cincinnati-Brookville Road.
It has not yet been determined exactly what caused the accident or how many motorcycles were involved due to several people leaving the scene before emergency crews or deputies could provide assistance, according to the sheriff’s office. Medical helicopters transported five people to university hospital with serious injuries. Two people were in intensive care Monday afternoon, one had been upgraded to stable condition, and one person was released Monday.
The sheriff’s office is asking that anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact Butler County traffic reconstruction team with details at 513-785-1218.
“We have a lot of unanswered questions right now,” said Sheriff Richard Jones. “Several people left the scene, some with very serious injuries, and at least one person has died. I want to make sure that all involved receive proper medical attention.”

The group is part of the Southern Ohio Bikers, a non-profit organization that conducts rides for charities. Saturday’s ride was for the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation. The ride was scheduled to begin at the American Legion in Harrison and end at McDog’s Lakeside Saloon in Colerain.
Chief Turner, an organizer of the event, said the motorcycle group began about 16 years ago by a group of friends from Cincinnati’s west side who liked to ride motorcycles on the weekend.
“We are not a bunch of outlaws, we are a group of friends,” Turner said. Six years ago the group that has grown to about 40 members “adopted” two youngsters fighting the disease and organized the Ayden and Faith Benefit Run, he said.
Turner said he was at the head of the motorcycle run on Saturday and the accident happened near the rear, so he did not see what happened.
He and others proceeded to the destination and started trying to find out what happened.
“I felt like my heart had been ripped out,” Turner said.
