An attached garage is a total loss after a fire Monday afternoon on Miami View Drive in Franklin.

Crews responded around 1 p.m. to the 6900 block on reports of the working structure fire.

“The fire was in the garage area attached to the house and was spreading to the house,” Franklin Township Fire Chief Michael Hannigan said.

A few other fire departments responded to assist with the fire.

“This area of Franklin Township has no fire hydrants so we depend on water being brought in by the fire trucks, so we have a large response from our mutual aid companies to bring water to us,” said Hannigan.

Hannigan said initial reports indicated there was a person trapped in the fire, but the two occupants and all animals made it out safe with no injuries.

The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation, but dry conditions could have played a possible role.

“Dry conditions play a big role no matter what kind of fire, whether it’s a fire in a structure, in a grass... on top of the dry conditions today we have some wind so that is another dynamic to it,” Hannigan said.
