Man Gets Prison Time For Shooting At Deputies

Authorities said a Greenville man is headed to prison for shooting at deputies in Darke County during a routine traffic stop in September of 2005.

Franz Hardin Jr., 31, was ordered to serve a total of 16 years in prison on charges of felonious assault on a police officers and having a weapon while under disability. Hardin recently pleaded guilty to both charges.

According to sheriff’s reports, there was an exchange of gunfire between Hardin and deputies near Ithaca off Route 722 following a pursuit.

Investigators said no one was injured.

Authorities said Hardin also has an unrelated felonious assault case pending in Preble County.
