‘Marry Me Military’ to bring military brides, grooms a wedding bonanza

Free wedding dresses, prizes and giveaways will highlight a “Marry Me Military Too” event on May 27 starting at noon at the Holiday Inn of Fairborn. The event, which took place last year for the first time in this area, is being hosted by the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base USO and the Holiday Inn, 2800 Presidential Drive.

The 2nd annual event is designed for active-duty military or the fiancée of an active-duty member. Guard and Reserve members are also eligible.

To participate, those eligible must RSVP to Mia Walthers, USO Center manager, at mia@usocso.org by May 25 and bring a printed copy of their confirmation email. Up to 75 brides will be accepted. No walk-ins will be allowed to participate. Each bride may be accompanied by one or two guests.

If a military member is deployed, the bride must bring a copy of his or her orders and short letter of introduction along with the printed confirmation email.

“The volunteers and I are so excited to team with the Holiday Inn of Fairborn to have this event off-base this year,” Walthers said. “As the mother of an Army son who deploys, we try hard to take care of all our service members, and this is a great way to make sure they have access also.”

The event will make more than 95 new wedding dresses available for free. These dresses were donated to military women and male service members’ fiancées for their special day by local and Cincinnati merchants to military members, regardless of their active-duty rank.
