Miami Twp. OKs salary range hike for police chief, captains

Salary ranges for Miami Twp. Police Department leadership jobs are rising.

The changes approved by trustees Tuesday night for the police chief and captains bring the compensation range for those township positions more in line with surrounding communities, records show.

Before trustees voted on the change, the annual salary range was $79,995 to $107,100 for the chief and $72,723 to $83,866 for captains, township officials said.

The increases approved this week put the chief’s annual salary range at $95,866 to $119,095, records show. The range for captains is now $83,866 to $93,866.

The former structure “offers little incentive for an hourly employee to pursue a promotion to a salaried captain’s position,” a memo from township Administrator Greg Rogers reads.

No pay increases have been given at this time, according to Rogers.
