More Businesses Closing In Greene County

Fuddruckers, a hamburger restaurant, has closed its doors in Beavercreek.

A sign on the door instructs customers to visit the other restaurant at the Dayton Mall. But that store is also closed and their phone number is temporarily disconnected.

Customers aren't surprised. Megan Lindquist says she knows times are tough. On Friday, she was selling used children's clothing. Lindquist said, "I was just trying to sell some extra things my children had outgrown."

Local residents said eating out may be one of the things that many people are cutting in this tough economy. Kijia Lovette said, "You need cars, you need gas, you need food. A lot of food places are going out of business, but you don't see grocery stores closing. A jewely store...not surprised."

Lovette is talking about Rogers Jewelers in Xenia, closed after fifty years in business.

A sign on the door apologizes to customers for the inconvenience and urges them to visit the other stores at the Dayton Mall and Fairfield Commons.

Alan Liming, President of the Xenia Area Chamber of Commerce said, if there is any good news in this bad economy, it's that there are still people setting up shop. Even though three businesses have closed recently, Liming says six more will be open soon.

"True, we're in a bad economic time, but that doesn't mean we're not going to come out of it. They have a positive attitude like I do," Liming said.
