Mother accused of driving drunk

A 31-year-old Beavercreek woman was arrested Monday morning after police said she drunkenly drove her vehicle into a mailbox and kept driving with her two children in the car.

Rachel Allison Tipps-Hall was arrested on suspicion of OVI, hit skip and child endangering, according to Beavercreek police. Officers reportedly tested her and her BAC was .314.

The two children in the car were 6 and 4 years old.

Officers pulled Hall’s tan Buick over at about 9 a.m. as she was driving west on U.S. 35. Police were contacted after someone called them to say the car hit a mailbox on Kemp Road, and left the scene. The driving appeared “erratic,” according to the caller.

Officers noted in a police report that once Hall was pulled over, she was “not making sense … talking mush mouthed and slurring her speech.” Hall’s eyes were reportedly red and glassy and she was unsteady on her feet. Police said there was an unmistakable odor of alcohol on her and she was asked to perform field sobriety tests.

According to a Beavercreek police report, Hall admitted to drinking earlier in the night. She said she drank a bottle of wine but stopped around 11:30 p.m. She also stated she’s using prescription drugs, which she took around 4:30 a.m.

She was booked into the Greene County Jail under a $7,500 bond.

Greene County Children’s Services has been contacted about her children, who are currently under the care of family members.
