A gym and doughnut shop will be among three tenants in a new retail development breaking ground in Beavercreek soon.
The multi-million dollar development at just under 7,000 square feet will be located in the Target parking lot at 2490 North Fairfield Road, one of the few stretches of land along the busy road that hasn’t yet been developed, said Andrew Feinblatt of OnSite Retail Group, who represents the developer BSM Development.
A Duck Donuts and Orangetheory Fitness will open in the retail building. The third company opening at the site has not been named.
“It’s hard to find stuff like that that’s highly visible to the road,” said Realtor Kelly Gray, who represents Duck Donuts, the North Carolina-based doughnut shop that will open its second Dayton-area location in the building.
The other location at 1200 Brown St. near the University of Dayton is owned by Todd Roberts, who also owns the newest shop.
The company offers “endless combinations,” with a build-your-own style. Customers choose the coating, toppings and drizzles that go on a freshly-made vanilla cake doughnut, according to the Duck Donuts website.
Duck Donuts also has a location in Mason, two in the Columbus area and a store coming soon to Cleveland, according to the company’s website.
Orangetheory Fitness will also open its second Dayton-area location in the development. The franchise focuses on one-hour heart rate-based interval training, according to the gym’s website.
Owner of the upcoming Beavercreek Orangtheory Fitness Amy Bassel said she hopes to open the fitness center around the new year.
“They’re supposed to be breaking ground any day,” she said.
Bassel and her husband Darren are originally from California, but with the price of living, they started exploring other options, eventually finding themselves in Lexington, Kentucky.
The couple owns eight Orangetheory Fitness locations, four in Ohio and four in California. Soon they will open two more in Ohio — the Beavercreek location and one at 3397 Princeton Road in Hamilton.
The tenants are expected to open at the Beavercreek location sometime between January and March, depending on when construction begins, Feinblatt said.
“Beavercreek is a hot market for every industry,” Feinblatt said. “We have followed this market since I’ve been in the business. It’s a market that everyone here locally and nationally pays attention to.”
