New Speed Limit Signs Go Up In Indiana

New speed limit signs went up across parts of Indiana on Tuesday.

A law authorizing higher speed limits on some Indiana highways took effect July 1, but officials decided to wait until after the July Fourth holiday to change the signs.

Once the signs are changed, speed limits on rural section of interstates and the Indiana Toll Road increase from 65 mph to 70 mph. State officials said speed limits on rural sections of four lane divided highway will increase from 55 mph to 60 mph.

Officials said more than 6,000 signs need to be changed. They said the process will take all summer.
