NWS Confirms Tornado In Centerville

The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF0 tornado touched down in Centerville on Wednesday night.

Officials said the tornado was on the ground for about 200 yards and had maximum winds of 65 mph.

The tornado touched down briefly on the grounds of Miami Valley Hospital South, which is located near Interstate 675. A small path of trees was knocked down in a wooded area north of the hospital.

According to officials, trees were uprooted, snapped off or twisted.

The tornado developed from the same super cell thunderstorm that produced 2- to 3-inch diameter hail in Centerville and Bellbrook. The hail caused extensive damage to vehicles and structures.
