Ohio runaway puts blame on parents' lawyer

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- An Ohio woman who ran away to Florida as a teenager after converting from Islam to Christianity is criticizing her parents' attorney, saying his actions harmed her ability to reunite with her family.

Rifqa Bary turned 18 last year without reconciling with her Muslim parents, who she says threatened her after they discovered she had become a Christian.

Bary says her parents' Columbus attorney, Omar Tarazi, conducted himself unprofessionally by recommending her parents try to have her declared an unruly child.

Bary makes her comments in an affidavit filed Tuesday with the Florida Supreme Court as part of a complaint filed by Tarazi against Bary's former lawyer.

Tarazi says he is preparing a response to Bary's allegations.

Authorities have said they found no credible threats to the girl following her conversion.
