JUST IN: Opening date set for new discount grocery store in Kettering

An Ohio grocery store will expand into the Dayton market, opening its first area store Aug. 8 in Kettering.

The store, located in a former Kroger at 2100 E. Whipp Road, will be the 59th for the Northeast Ohio-based Marc’s, one of the largest regional deep discount chains in the country.

The new 50,000 square-foot store will create about 100 jobs, offer produce, fresh meat, beer and wine, health and beauty items and a cold cut counter, in addition to the closeout department it’s known for.

The closeout aisle is stocked by Marc’s closeout buyers who try to find the best deals from around the world.

“When you see something you want you better grab it because our closeout deals are so great they don’t last long,” said a release from Marc’s.

The store will be open Monday through Saturday 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
