Opening Statements Begin In Troutwine Murder Trial

Officials said opening statements are expected to begin Tuesday in connection with the slaying of Phillip Troutwine of Darke County.

James Russell, 29, was charged in the Troutwine’s 2004 death. Authorities said he was tracked down and arrested in California.

Officials said prior to opening statements beginning, Candance Hargrove who was also charged in connection with Troutwine’s death, is expected to enter a plea.

Investigators said Russell and Hargrove were charged with robbery, tampering with evidence and gross abuse of a corpse.

Authorities said Troutwine was an FAA inspector at Dayton International Airport and was allegedly killed inside an apartment in Dayton. Investigators said his body was found inside the trunk of a car at a West Carrollton apartment complex.
