Re "Why do people hate their jobs?," July 8: I hate my job because my pay has been frozen for three years, I now have been forced to take a 20 percent pay cut for the next 11 weeks, and yet I am still expected to do the same amount of work. And all of this because faceless politicians in Washington are using my livelihood as a political football simply to make a point about their respective partisan ideologies.
The main reason people hate their jobs is because the employer doesn't care about the well-being of their employees. They want more and more work out of the employees and give less and less on wages and benefits. Everyone wants to be treated like they count for something. Most employers have gone away from "Good morning, how are you?" to "Clock in and get started working." There's just a lack of respect in the workplace. Employers treat employees like a number instead of a human being with feelings. If management and CEOs would just realize that you can get more work out of happy employees, their business would gain more profits, hands down.
