Police: Spider bite leads to domestic violence

A man allegedly became enraged and violent to the mother of his unborn child after he said he was bitten by a spider.

Dayton officers found a 20-year-old woman bleeding from the mouth and with a swollen right eye after responding at 8:30 a.m. Friday to an apartment in the 200 block of Hoch Street, according to the police report.

The victim told police she’s 18-weeks pregnant and the father, 23-year-old Bryant Oldham, was sleeping on the couch when he awoke complaining that a spider just bit him, according to the report.

She told police Oldham was extremely angry and retrieved some dry insecticide from the kitchen and proceeded to sprinkle it all over the couch, according to the report.

The alleged assault happened after the victim tipped the couch over to brush off the insecticide out of concern for a 2-year-old child that was also in the apartment, according to the report.

Oldham left the apartment before police arrived, but has since been arrested and is being held in the Montgomery County Jail.
