Miamisburg plans to hire a firm to design an access road seen as key to a local business moving its North American headquarters – as well as attracting other future development – to the city's part of the Austin Center business district.
A recommendation is set to go before Miamisburg City Council tonight that Barge Waggoner Sumner & Cannon be chosen to design a road expected to cost at least $3.5 million to connect Byers and Old Byers roads.
The project is part of an agreement with United Grinding North America, a Miamisburg firm that plans to move from Earl Avenue and invest $13 million in a new site near Interstate 75 that will house at least 140 workers and its continental headquarters.
BWSC, an engineering firm, would complete its work for the 2,500 feet road by the end of the year and be paid no more than $200,000, records shows.
